Using Linkedin and social media to promote a business? 18 days to go until blast off!

Thursday, October 5, 2017

So after 17 years of working for many large system integrators that I have thoroughly enjoyed working for, I am finally biting the bullet and starting my own Business.

TRaC Defence which is a new Cyber Business focussing on Threat, Risk and Compliance consultancy will enable me to make Cyber my core focus and help resolve the real day to day problems that business's face.

While sat here in front of my computer and thinking about the best way initally to approach wider publicity, I have been asking myself the following questions:

How do I best use Linkedin and social media to help find new work and contacts without annoying everyone?
Should it worry me if I annoy a few people on the way? As I guess that will always happen despite best efforts not to?
How far is too far when using your personal network?
Can this attract people to a new company's website?
So I thought I would try and get a conversation going around people's thoughts and experiences on this area and what in the Linkedin community's experience has been found to be effective and works. This in the hope that myself and other wanabee entrepreneurs can learn from these experiences.

I will be running a social media campaign on the 'day in the life of a Cyber Start-up' on Linkedin and Twitter, sharing my experiences along with the ups and downs.

So I guess my adventure starts here although TRaC Defence won't be officially trading until 23rd October 2017 while I finish off my current employment; hence 18 days to Blast Off. I am looking for an initial contract that I can get my teeth into. I have a wealth of experience across governance, risk and compliance and am always keen to make a quick impact whether the focus is policy and process, complete business transformation or security architecture design, implementation and support.

I would be keen to talk to anybody that maybe looking for somebody to help them with their Cyber journey whether just starting or improving their maturity.
